Overview
Keeping world class training ready, safe and future focused. Play a critical role in shaping how the next generation of Royal Navy personnel are trained. As Training Equipment Manager, you’ll take ownership of the strategic and day to day management of training equipment across the estate ensuring assets are safe, compliant, available and fit for purpose. This is a hands on leadership role that combines technical expertise with people management, problem solving and forward planning. You’ll lead a team, work closely with suppliers and stakeholders, and oversee projects that support new capability, upgrades and the ongoing sustainment of training equipment. You’ll also play a key role in responding to Royal Navy Tasking Orders, helping translate complex requirements into clear, deliverable solutions. If you enjoy bringing structure to complexity, leading technical teams, and making sure the right equipment is in the right place at the right time, this is a role where you can make a genuine impact.
Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week (Monday – Friday)
Location: HMS Sultan or HMS Collingwood, Gosport, United Kingdom
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintain accurate records of training assets, including inventories, configuration and lifecycle data.
- Produce regular reports on asset performance, usage, risks and issues.
- Line manage and develop the team, ensuring clear responsibilities and balanced workloads.
- Oversee health and safety for all asset‑related activity, ensuring issues are logged and addressed promptly.
- Manage asset‑related budgets, forecasting costs and controlling spend within approved limits.
- Lead and manage third‑party suppliers, ensuring strong performance and compliance with SLAs.
- Develop clear Tasking Order responses for Royal Navy equipment needs, including costs, scope and delivery plans.
- Act as the key point of contact for equipment matters, ensuring solutions meet operational, safety and future capability requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- Qualification in Engineering or strong understanding of relevant engineering disciplines and technologies.
- Exposure to Royal Navy Training.
- Proven experience in asset management, service delivery, or operational management.
- Experience managing third party suppliers and contract performance.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost tracking.
- Proficient in MS Office, asset management systems and reporting tools.
Desirable:
- Experience in defence, training, or complex technical environments.
- Knowledge of HSE legislation and MoD/commercial safety reporting processes.
- Familiarity with SECRS or equivalent safety log systems.
