Here at AtkinsRéalis we are at the heart of delivering transformative projects that are lowering carbon emissions whilst achieving future energy security. Our Power and Energy Solutions Practice is actively involved in projects spanning energy storage (underground natural gas & hydrogen storage caverns), power and industrial assets, and transmission and distribution / Power Grids sector. Our business unit offers a stimulating variety of work, from feasibility studies, FEED through to detailed design, site surveys and design verification. We are currently delivering a portfolio of projects such as hydrogen production, gas and hydrogen storage, electrical transmission and distribution, battery storage and industrial decarbonisation projects.

Your role: We’re looking for a versatile Project Manager able to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across the UK and Europe. You’ll collaborate closely with clients, guide talented colleagues, and contribute to an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. As a Project Manager with us you will work closely with our multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects throughout the project lifecycle. You will build close relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure that projects are safely delivered to programme, cost and to a high level of quality.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders, influencing with confidence and diplomacy.
  • Develop and agree budgets and manage/control forecast and actual costs.
  • Lead and facilitate the overall cross‑functional multi discipline project team.
  • Monitor and apply performance management techniques, including the use of KPI’s to improve project performance.
  • Manage delivery of project objectives in line with safety, cost, programme and quality objectives and ensure resources allocated to projects are competent, efficiently mobilised, and well supported.
  • Prepare and communicate clear project updates, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture, facilitating cross‑functional teamwork and knowledge‑sharing.
  • Support safe, responsible project delivery, proactively managing risk.
  • Identify and monitor project Health & Safety and Environmental risks and plan and implement any necessary risk mitigations.

About you: We welcome applicants from different backgrounds who bring curiosity, integrity and a commitment to high‑quality delivery. In addition to having strong communication and leadership skills, you will have experience in and be able to demonstrate a selection of the following attributes:

  • Proven experience in a project management role delivering multi‑disciplinary engineering projects, with recent experience of successfully delivering in an EPCM environment.
  • Leading multidisciplinary engineering projects, in a highly regulated or energy related industry (e.g. PowerGrids transmission and distribution, conventional power, oil and gas, chemicals, renewables or large‑scale infrastructure).
  • Building trusted relationships with clients and colleagues and motivating diverse teams.
  • High degree of commercial acumen and knowledge of project planning and project controls.
  • Managing project budgets, resources and schedules with confidence and clarity.
  • Applying sound judgement in risk management, planning and project controls.
  • Safety focused with an uncompromising approach to health, safety and risk management with an ability to clearly articulate key project delivery risks.
  • An understanding of the role of Designer and Principal Designer or Principal Contractor under CDM.
  • Working with standard contract models and contributing to innovative commercial approaches.
