When it comes to the maintenance and repair of existing fluid filled, polymeric insulated cable systems in the UK there is no other company who can claim to have greater experience than Prysmian. Our company has been installing and maintaining high voltage pressurised fluid filled cable systems, MIND insulated and Polymeric cable systems since their first introduction into the UK. Prysmian are unique within the UK cable network maintenance sector in being able to utilise our manufacturing units, jointing and fluid technician training school and high voltage and chemical laboratories to support our maintenance activities.

Our Maintenance Business, called Energy Network Solutions (ENS) undertakes a diverse range of activities to support our customers and to keep the power on. An integral part of our ENS business is our dedicated Civils Team, who work throughout the UK on activities related to faults, maintenance and new installations of High Voltage Cables and Accessories.

We currently have a vacancy for a Civils Technician, reporting to the Area Manager. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Setting out and undertaking all ground works associated with new underground cable installation and maintenance of the existing high voltage electricity network.
  • Liaising with third parties such as scaffolders, shot blasters and traffic management contractors.
  • Achieving required training including Distribution Network Operators substation access and holding Safety documents.
  • Supervising the working party on site and working closely with the local engineers.
  • Telehandler and MEWP Driving.
  • Assisting with general yard duties.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment via inputting into site documentation and adherence to policies and standards.
  • Work under the direct instruction of the Project Engineer in charge of the works to fulfill the schedule of works required in line with cost, time and quality.

To be successful in your application you will have good communication skills and an aptitude for team working. Frequent travel is a requirement of this role and therefore a valid UK driving licence is essential. Successful candidates must be able to work away during weekdays, weekends or bank holidays as required by the works program. Previous experience in Electrical Substations and High Voltage industry knowledge is desirable. Current DNO authorizations, IPAF license, Telehandler licence and SSSTS advantageous.
