As a crucial element of Bacardi’s global operational footprint, our Glasgow Operations site (Westthorn) produces a range of premium whiskies and gin brands in support of Bacardi’s UK Supply Chain and to deliver to our customers and markets. Following a tailored & in-depth training program, our skilled group of Bottling Line Operators become part of shift teams who work flexibly together to deliver the Westthorn production schedule for all of our customers. Prioritising our safety-first culture, you will operate bottling machinery and perform a range of related operational tasks to drive quality and maintain product standards, in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You will also be encouraged to develop and continually improve our working practices and site performance. You will work flexibly between tasks, including manual and machine operations, engaging in our team environment and supporting a positive and engaged culture – all to ensure that key production and site priorities & targets are delivered.
Responsibilities
- Safety first – work in a safe and compliant manner, also taking ownership and accountability for your own safety and that of all others.
- Protect and look after the site and all its processes and engage with all Company initiatives to ensure this is our first key priority.
- Once trained and signed off, to effectively operate Bottling Line Equipment and supporting activities.
- The effective & efficient use of all equipment workstations & machinery within the Production Operation, including all compliance checks for Health Safety & Environment, Asset Care, Hygiene & Equipment Maintenance, as outlined in Company Policy.
- To be aware of and work to achieve all site, Departmental and team goals.
- This to contribute to personal LETS TALK annual reviews and performance.
- To support the Manufacturing Excellence/BOS systems of performance improvements – and adopt and display a Continuous Improvement mind-set to drive & improve line & site performance and processes.
- To perform Line changeovers, minimizing changeover losses using SMED techniques, recording & measuring times & improvements.
- To support and when required train designated colleagues & personnel – utilizing SOP’s and best practice methods.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards using 5s principles and asset care processes.
- Involved in 5s audits and improvements.
- Contribute to Planned Stop activities & tasks ensuring required standards, timings and defects are logged.
- Under BOS principles, ownership of Centrelines, defects, breakdowns on equipment and to ensure process reliability & repeatability.
- Development and maintenance of a safety conscious environment, identify hazards & risks – communicated using Nemo system.
- Engage fully in our Bacardi Primo culture (the 3 F’s) and promote teamwork, belonging, engagement and working together.
Skills / Experience
- This is essentially a machine operator role – so ideally you can demonstrate operational acumen, and prior experience of working equipment within a highly automated FMCG operational environment, preferably manufacturing – or a similar production environment.
- Ability to work as independently – and as well as part of an extended team – able to engage positively with colleagues and co‑workers from various departments.
- The manufacturing environment is large in scale and arranged across multi‑levels – so a degree of personal mobility and accessibility is required as a norm.
- It would be advantageous to have a familiarity with the QUALITY, SAFETY and COMPLIANCE requirements for a GMP bottling, or similar manufacturing process (or other comparable operational activities).
- Some level of systems and IT use is required so knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and of SAP transactions required to support daily operations.
