How you will create an impact:
- Focused on Commercial D&O within the Financial Lines Claims team, this role is an ideal opportunity for an experienced adjuster to take a prominent role in handling large and highly complex claims, typically as lead and/or on the primary and with an international dimension.
- The aim is to deal with genuine claims through a proactive, best practice approach, in line with AIG's quality standards – you will actively promote and demonstrate the principles of ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ in claims handling.
- You will also proactively identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims on a consistent basis – dealing with such claims in line with our clear guidelines.
- Your work will involve regular contact with internal stakeholders and brokers, experts, and external lawyers.
- We want you to build effective relationships with internal and external customers, while acting as a senior point of referral and advising management on significant exposures.
- You will have the opportunity to grow your experience by providing support to Team Managers and deputising in their absence.
- For example, you will assist with monitoring market/industry practices in claims handling.
- In addition, you can use the claims experience you gain to help improve our products in collaboration with colleagues in underwriting.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Significant Commercial D&O claims experience, either in the insurance market or in private practice as a lawyer.
- The ability to lead a market, with a track record of handling high value claims, particularly on the primary.
- Detailed knowledge of legal/regulatory and litigation/procedural requirements/technical claims topics for Financial Lines.
- Experience of FI PI/D&O and W&I claims would be desirable but not essential.
- Experience in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
- Lateral thinking and the ability to problem solve and develop new ideas to improve working practices.
- Strong communication, time management, administrative and report-writing skills.
