Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week at HMS Collingwood, Fareham. Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

Help get better trained war fighters to the front line faster. Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver “better trained sailors to the front line faster”. As an instructor, you’ll play a vital role in training Royal Navy students in External Communications and Cryptographic Maintenance, delivering hands-on instruction to Phase 3 CIS(T) Maintainers within the Weapons Engineering department. You’ll be responsible for teaching the maintenance of critical communication and cryptographic hardware, ensuring students gain the technical skills they need.

Reporting to the Training Delivery Team Leader (Sensors/CIS), you’ll deliver high-quality, safe, and consistent training using best practices and harmonised approaches that support excellence across the Weapons Engineering training area.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Training military students in External Communication and Cryptographic Maintenance
  • Supporting personalised learning by working with L&D and training staff to tailor training to each trainee’s needs, while promoting modernised courses and cultural change.
  • Maintaining electrical equipment used for training
  • Sharing and applying best practices across establishments to enhance training quality.
  • Standardising training systems and processes across all Royal Navy Weapons Engineering training locations.

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • HNC in electronics (minimum) or equivalent
  • Team player with experience leading and collaborating cross-team to ensure successful delivery of training.
  • Proficiency in using IT (hardware/software) within the workplace
  • Ability to gain UK SC clearance.

Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience of maintenance of Royal Navy Communications systems.
  • Experience of maintenance of Cryptographic systems.
  • Military weapon engineering communication systems or equivalent experience would be desirable.
  • Any previous teaching/training experience would be beneficial.
