This role is ideal for ex-service CIS personnel or experienced defence trainers who enjoy developing others and want to remain close to the operational communications environment without returning to sea or field deployments.
Deliver high quality training on the MMR PRC 163/167 and BOWMAN communication systems to Royal Navy personnel. Instructors will support initial and continuation training, ensuring learners are operationally competent, confident, and compliant with current doctrine and procedures. The role includes classroom delivery, practical instruction, and contribution to continuous improvement of training material.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver classroom and practical training on MMR (PRC‑163/167) radio systems
- Deliver BOWMAN operator and systems training
- Prepare and maintain lesson plans, training aids, and practical scenarios
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Ensure training aligns with RN standards, safety, and assurance requirements
- Support course reviews and continuous improvement activity
- Represent Capita professionally within a military training environment
What we’re looking for
- Practical experience with military tactical communications systems
- Experience with MMR PRC‑163 / PRC‑167
- Hands‑on knowledge of BOWMAN (operator or instructor level)
- Experience instructing, training, or mentoring adults
- Royal Navy, Army, or Joint CIS background
- Previous defence contractor or training provider experience
- Strong preparation and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate confidently in a military environment
