The Driver Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and assessing driver training programmes to ensure all UPS drivers in the UK meet statutory, operational, and company-specific requirements for safe and competent driving. This role is crucial in maintaining UPS’s high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service. This is a permanent onsite position, Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30 pm with an hour break (or similar flexible arrangements).

What you’ll do:
- Conducting training for both new and experienced drivers across all vehicle types (vans, HGVs/LGVs) using diverse methods like classroom sessions, 3D simulations, webcasts, and practical on-road coaching, adhering to company policies and safety standards.
- Designing, updating, and maintaining driver training materials to align with current legislation (e.g., DVSA, CPC) and industry best practices.
- Evaluating driving standards through practical and theoretical means, providing constructive feedback, identifying training needs, and maintaining accurate records of driver competence.
- Promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, overseeing student and resource safety during training, and aiming to reduce incidents for overall fleet safety.
- Acting as a mentor, offering ongoing support and expert advice on driving standards and safety to drivers and operational teams.
- Managing training records, ensuring data integrity in training systems, and preparing reports on training effectiveness, driver performance, and compliance.
- Maintaining high personal driving skills and engaging in continuous professional development, including “train-the-trainer” classes.
