We have several exciting vacancies for talented Project Managers to join our teams across the UK in our expanding Defence Infrastructure market.
The infrastructure business is responsible for delivery of design services across our markets of Defence Infrastructure, Water Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail, and Urban Developments. We have an exciting vacancy within the Infrastructure PDP and are seeking an enthusiastic, pro‑active and confident Project Manager to join our Epsom and South‑East practice, based in our Epsom office.
You will be a Project Manager within the infrastructure sector; this role offers the chance to develop your career and expand your experiences across a wide range of challenging and exciting projects. The position is likely to combine agile working from our Epsom office with time at client offices and sites. The individual will be responsible for delivery of multi‑disciplinary projects from concept through to construction.
You will be responsible for delivering schemes to budget and programme through RIBA Stages 0‑7 (or the sector equivalent) and have stakeholder liaison with our clients on our expanding portfolio of the biggest and most challenging projects across the Defence market. Your Purpose:
- Delivery of project management and contract administration through the project life cycle.
- Ensuring that there is a common understanding of requirements and scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces across the team.
- The successful delivery of the project to meet targets, e.g. programme, budget, and quality.
- Identifying and agreeing project objectives with the Project Director and developing a strategy for achieving these.
- Identifying, escalating, and managing any matters that could pose a potential contractual/commercial risk to AtkinsRéalis.
- A member of the project team – building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding, and developing the team.
- Communicating, liaising, and engaging with clients on a project‑by‑project basis.
- Deliver governance arrangements for projects within corporate and business policies, directives, guidance, and procedures to ensure a robust outcome.
- Ensure safety is prioritised throughout delivery.
- Manage the project within client and AtkinsRéalis agreed budgets.
- Management of Risk, Opportunity and mitigation measures for the project.
- Administer and negotiate change control from inception through to completion.
- Clear and accurate monitoring and reporting of project performance against programme, technical quality, financial and KPI targets; both internally and externally.
- Cognisant delivery of projects and tasks in accordance with the AtkinsRéalis Values; Safety, Integrity, Collaboration and Innovation.
What you can bring:
- A Project Management/Engineering/Building Surveying/Architectural background, with design management, project management and contract administration experience.
- Chartered with the APM or equivalent professional Engineering qualification / chartership.
- A hard working and flexible individual, who is a team player, possesses great attention to detail, is reliable, proactive and demonstrates initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities.
- Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
- Experience across a range of construction projects and Markets particularly Defence.
- Experience of leading the management of projects from inception to completion (RIBA Stages 0 – 7 or equivalent).
- Has a clear understanding and experience of construction contracts, particularly NEC3.
- Experienced at preparing Scope Definition papers, Project Execution Plans, Risk Registers, Change Control Logs and Client & Stakeholder Management plans.
- Experience of managing design projects to time, cost and quality objectives and familiar with programming and earned value techniques.
- Self‑motivated and able to work both within a larger multi‑discipline team.
- Familiar with the application of BIM modelling tools for design and coordination purposes.
- A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring members of the team.
- Ability to adapt to different working environments to build rapport with clients.
- Be available to travel across the UK and work away from home, when required.
- Holds a valid UK driving licence and able to travel to sites across the United Kingdom.
