We’re seeking someone to join our team as an EMEA Engineering Operations Lead, Director (AVP equivalent) to manage and develop the Firm’s MEPH infrastructure.
This role will work closely with the Morgan Stanley real‑estate strategy team, project management & Operations teams and key internal stakeholders.
You will report directly to the Regional Head of RE Operations.
We’re seeking someone to join our team in RE Operations with MEP Engineering experience to play a pivotal role in ensuring the flawless execution of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Electrical designs throughout the entire capital project & operational management asset life cycle.
From lease negotiations to handover, this role will help lead the engineering process, providing strategic and tactical design management support to the Project & Operational Teams and collaborate with internal cross‑functional teams to successfully implement world‑class projects & operationally manage MEPH infrastructure.

What you’ll do in the role
- Serve as the RE Operations representative for MEP in construction projects, ensuring MEP brief is met by coordinating with consultants, contractors, and architects.
- Lead the operational engineering vendor workforce to ensure the effective operation and management of critical MERP assets.
- Guide the correct execution of the design process across all project phases, including feasibility, scheme design, detailed design, construction, and project handover.
- Collaborate with the Capital Projects and Management teams to address operational failures, offering expert advice and reporting recommendations for effective resolution.
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide early support to project managers, architects, and space planners, contributing to the successful implementation of projects.
- Collaborate with cost estimators to formulate MEP sustainment and investment budgets and with Project Managers to develop construction programmes, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Create high‑level MEP scope of work for internal moves, changes (MAC), and small projects, ensuring the flawless execution of design plans.
- Travel to project locations, primarily in the UK and Europe, to provide on‑site support and ensure successful completion of project goals.
- Advise on project briefs, setting clear goals and objectives related to building services installations, contributing to the overall success of projects.
- Monitor project designs and reviews to ensure adherence to global standards, maintaining the highest level of quality throughout the design process.
- Communicate design management processes and supporting procedures to Project Managers and other team members, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
- Review works on‑site to ensure standard compliance and quality delivery.
- Carry out project completion reviews, sign‑off and acceptance on behalf of all RE Operations, ensuring the successful completion of projects.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for specific plant or system installations when required, ensuring the equipment meets design parameters and quality standards.
- Review commissioning data against design parameters and arrange for corrective action when necessary, ensuring the successful commissioning of MEP systems.
- Operational Incident management experience.
- Strong electrical or mechanical/electrical commissioning knowledge base and focus strongly desired, allowing you to bring exceptional expertise to the team.
- Review all operational incidents, providing root cause analysis and remediation recommendations as appropriate.
What you’ll bring to the role
- At least 6 years’ relevant experience generally expected to meet the required skills.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or equivalent business experience.
- 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in the financial or similar operational sector.
- Industry accreditation or certification (e. g., BEng, CDCMP, CDCDP, RCDD) helpful but not required.
- Vendor and contract management experience.
- Superior client and customer relationship skills, effective time‑management skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel within a cross‑functional team environment.
- Project management capabilities with experience in end‑to‑end project execution for major commercial interior design fit‑out projects.
- Decisive, independent leadership style that thinks critically and creatively.
- Ability to prioritise multiple initiatives, balance strategic and execution activities, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to manage external partners and consultants.
- Effective collaboration with colleagues and staff at all levels of the organization.
