About the Role

The Director of In‑House Legal Development strengthens the company’s position as a leading provider of legal AI solutions for large in‑house legal teams in the UK. This role builds strong relationships across the legal community, shares market insight, and helps shape strategic and commercial direction.

Responsibilities

  • Build a deep understanding of the needs, challenges, and trends affecting large in‑house legal teams.
  • Engage regularly with General Counsel, legal operations leaders, and senior in‑house lawyers.
  • Track developments in the legal AI market and provide clear, actionable insight to internal teams, including product, strategy, and go‑to‑market.

Thought Leadership & External Engagement

  • Represent the company at industry events through speaking engagements, panels, workshops, and roundtables.
  • Shape themes and ideas for the company’s content strategy in partnership with marketing and subject‑matter experts.
  • Build a strong, credible presence within the in‑house legal community.

Relationship Development

  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior legal leaders across FTSE350 companies and major UK private businesses.
  • Support account teams by providing introductions, context, and strategic insight to advance commercial conversations.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, marketing, product, strategy, and customer success teams.
  • Advocate for customer needs to inform product development and commercial planning.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to engage credibly and authoritatively with senior legal audiences, including General Counsel and corporate legal leadership teams.
  • Experience working within or closely alongside large legal functions, with a strong understanding of their operating models, challenges, and strategic pressures.
  • Background in legal practice, either in private practice or in‑house counsel roles or equivalent experience demonstrating deep familiarity with the legal industry. (Preferred but not required).
  • Literacy in technology and artificial intelligence, with the ability to discuss AI applications, risks, and impacts on legal workflows and operating models.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining senior‑level professional relationships, expanding networks, and converting relationships into commercial opportunities.
  • Track record of high‑impact communication, including public speaking, presenting to large or senior audiences, facilitating executive‑level discussions, and representing an organization in high‑stakes environments.
