OVERVIEW
The Director of Asset Protection & Safety International, based out of London, leads ALO's enterprise protection strategy across international retail markets, ensuring operational integrity, the safety of our people and guests, and the protection of company assets. This leader combines operational discipline, innovation, and mindful leadership to protect both performance and brand experience across diverse regulatory, cultural, and risk environments. The Director is responsible for developing, standardizing, and scaling a comprehensive international retail protection program across the UK, Europe, and APAC. This role integrates operational risk management, safety governance, investigations, and resilience into a cohesive strategy that positions ALO's Asset Protection & Safety organization as a global center of excellence for protection and prevention. This role will report into the Sr. Director Asset Protection & Safety.
This leader is both visionary and practical, using data, technology, and human insight to anticipate emerging risks and create scalable solutions that sustain trust, profitability, and operational excellence across international markets. The role partners across Operations, People & Culture, Legal, Finance, IT, Facilities, and Supply Chain to ensure ALO's protection and safety programs evolve ahead of industry trends while remaining compliant with local laws and cultural expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership & Culture: Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing international field organization, including Regional Asset Protection Managers and supporting Asset Protection and Safety resources across multiple countries. Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and care that supports safety, team engagement, and business performance. Model and embody ALO's Guiding Principles of mindful movement, community, intention, and purpose. Partner with international retail and field leaders to reinforce consistent execution of Asset Protection and Safety standards. Maintain visible engagement in the field to assess readiness and reinforce duty of care expectations.
- Strategic Direction & Execution: Lead ALO's international Asset Protection & Safety strategy across External Risk, Internal Integrity, Operational Excellence, and People Protection. Establish scalable governance models aligning global standards with local regulatory requirements. Ensure strategies are data-informed and aligned to long-term growth.
- External Risk: Develop proactive strategies to deter and respond to external theft and organized retail crime. Build relationships with law enforcement, security partners, and retail coalitions. Oversee theft and fraud case management and recovery efforts. Represent ALO in international protection networks. Oversee security vendor programs and guard force management.
- Internal Integrity: Lead internal investigations with discretion and cultural sensitivity. Partner with People & Culture and Legal on compliant case handling. Oversee restitution, recovery, and authority coordination. Ensure cash-handling integrity and audit consistency. Reinforce ethical behavior and accountability programs.
- Operational Excellence: Partner cross-functionally to mitigate controllable loss. Standardize international retail audit programs. Use analytics to forecast risk and guide prevention. Support new store openings and remodels. Drive continuous improvement.
- People Protection, Safety & Business Continuity: Champion a culture of safety, preparedness, and wellbeing. Provide executive oversight of workplace violence prevention. Oversee crisis management and business continuity frameworks. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Lead post-incident reviews and resilience planning.
- Technology, Analytics & Innovation: Modernize protection and safety platforms through technology. Optimize systems for reporting and analytics. Evaluate innovative prevention tools. Oversee physical security and life-safety systems. Present insights and outcomes to executive leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Fifteen or more years of progressive leadership experience with international scope.
- Proven success building scalable protection and safety programs.
- Experience overseeing investigations, audits, crisis response, and business continuity.
- Strong understanding of international retail risk and safety governance.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- High integrity and sound judgment.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 40 to 50 percent.
