Our Vision

Role Overview
We’re seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to modernize and secure our infrastructure as we scale our lending platform. You’ll work hands‑on with GCP and Kubernetes to build reliable, efficient deployment pipelines while establishing platform‑wide capabilities like observability, security, and infrastructure as code. This is a high‑impact role where you’ll partner with engineering teams to accelerate their delivery, own critical infrastructure components, and shape the operational principles used across the organization. Equally important, you’ll work cross‑functionally with non‑technical teams to bring the entire company on the journey toward better security and operational excellence. You’ll tackle exciting challenges from chaos engineering to green/blue deployments in a fast‑paced, high‑growth fintech where infrastructure reliability directly enables our ability to lend at scale.
About Uncapped
Founded in 2019, Uncapped is a fintech company focused on providing working capital to SMEs in North America and Europe. We leverage multiple data sources to make credit decisions faster, safer and more conveniently. We are working with the largest platforms in the world, including Amazon and Walmart, and strive to be the best alternative‑lender globally.
What will you do
- Build & Optimize Infrastructure: Own our GCP infrastructure stack, ensuring it’s scalable, reliable, and cost‑efficient. Modernize our Kubernetes environments, implement infrastructure as code with Terraform, and establish best practices that enable the engineering organization to move faster with confidence.
- Enable Developer Velocity: Partner with development teams to accelerate their delivery through improved CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and processes. Guide engineers in choosing the right tools and patterns for their needs. Empower teams to self‑serve infrastructure capabilities while maintaining security and reliability standards.
- Strengthen Security & Governance: Lead cross‑functional efforts to manage identity and access management across our infrastructure and third‑party tools. Work with non‑technical teams to consolidate our view of all third‑party tools, understanding their needs while implementing security best practices. Secure critical infrastructure components like DNS, implement secrets management and audit logging, and establish compliance controls required for regulated financial services. Balance security rigor with empowering teams to work effectively.
- Establish Platform Capabilities: Build company‑wide observability using the LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir). Implement SRE principles, monitoring, and alerting that give teams visibility into system health. Drive initiatives like green/blue deployments and chaos engineering to improve resilience.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Monitor system performance and costs, identifying optimization opportunities. Respond to incidents, conduct post‑mortems, and implement preventive measures. Balance immediate operational needs with long‑term platform improvements.
Our Tech Stack
You’ll work with these technologies: GCP, Kubernetes, Istio, LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir), Terraform, Github, CI, Flux CD.
Requirements
Who you are
- Technical Skills: You have hands‑on experience with GCP and Kubernetes in production environments. You’re proficient with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and understand CI/CD principles deeply. You’ve built or maintained observability solutions and know how to make complex systems understandable. Experience with GitLab CI, Flux CD, Istio, or similar tools is valuable.
- Engineering Approach: You believe in teaching teams to fish rather than fishing for them. You write automation that empowers others while maintaining guardrails. You think about security and reliability from the start, not as afterthoughts. You balance pragmatism with technical excellence, knowing when to build quickly and when to build right.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership & Collaboration: You excel at bringing people on the journey, not just implementing technical solutions. You communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders in ways that build understanding and buy‑in. You work collaboratively across teams to understand their needs, constraints, and workflows before implementing changes that affect them. You balance security requirements with enabling teams to do their jobs effectively. You have a positive attitude with high integrity and low ego, and you genuinely enjoy enabling others to succeed.
