At Servomex, our global mission is to enable change through advanced gas analysis and gas sensing technologies. Headquartered in Crowborough, East Sussex, our UK Technical Centre brings together multidisciplinary teams who collaborate to design and deliver next‑generation solutions used in critical environments worldwide. We are excited to be expanding our team and searching for a highly skilled Chromatography Product Applications Specialist, with the flexibility to appoint at Senior or Principal level depending on your experience, expertise and impact.
Salary and Location
- Salary: £70,000 to £100,000 basic annually plus benefits – see below
- Location: Crowborough, East Sussex (hybrid – minimum three days/week onsite)
Relocation support can be offered to the successful candidate, where appropriate
10% to 15% global travel
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and validate new gas chromatographic methods for process applications
- Extend measurement ranges and background gas capability across our analyser portfolio
- Provide expert application support to R&D, Sales, Service and customers
- Design and execute experimental test regimes and validation studies
- Support new product development through feasibility studies and performance characterisation
- Investigate and resolve complex application and performance challenges
- Produce high-quality technical documentation, application notes and reports
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align products with customer and market needs
- Work in line with company policies, procedures and quality standards
Level of appointment
We are open to hiring at Senior or Principal level. The final level will be aligned to your experience, depth of expertise and the impact you can bring and will be discussed with you during the interview and selection process.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in process gas chromatography
- Strong understanding of GC detectors, column and trap technologies
- Demonstrable expertise in method development, validation and optimisation
- Experience working with different background gases and complex matrices
- Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving and data interpretation skills
- Experience working within Engineering, R&D or Applications environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Confident user of Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable experience
- Experience with process analysers and on‑line GC systems
- Knowledge of industrial gas applications and standards
- Experience supporting customers or field‑based application issues
- Strong capability in technical reporting and data analysis
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement approaches
- Experience facilitating Lean or Six Sigma initiatives
Qualifications
Essential
- BSc (or higher) in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
Desirable
- MSc or PhD in a relevant discipline
- Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (or equivalent)
