Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 59 bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs. A new position has arisen for a Bank Driver to facilitate the transport service needs for our patients on a casual basis as and when required. Shifts will be scheduled between Mon-Sun including weekends /Bank Holidays.
Responsibilities
- Ensure vehicles are refuelled.
- Check vehicles before departure and after return, keeping them clean inside and out.
- Report any faults or damage.
- Provide transport for escort visits for both service users & staff.
- Conduct thorough vehicle checks to ensure safety & report problems.
- Clean & care for vehicles.
- Comply with health & safety policies & Cygnet protocols.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Confident, outgoing personality.
- Excellent communication skills, able to plan and keep to a timed schedule.
- Hold a valid full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points.
- Experience of driving in different environments including cities and motorways, both daytime and evenings.
- Able to navigate around an area using Sat Nav or maps.
- Physically fit for getting in and out of vehicles and loading and unloading.
- Willing to work unsupervised.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, to liaise with patients, staff and third parties.
- Health & safety experience & knowledge.
- Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting (desirable).
