The Production Planner is responsible for orchestrating and optimising daily and long-range production schedules to ensure timely availability of materials, efficient use of labour and equipment, and a smooth, continuous production flow. This role uses planning and scheduling tools to translate demand and capacity into executable plans, allocates resources to meet customer and operational commitments, and closely monitors work schedules to identify and resolve bottlenecks. The Production Planner regularly analyses production and inventory data to adjust plans, improve throughput, and reduce delays or excess stock. Success in this role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams across operations, supply chain, quality, and engineering to align priorities, communicate changes, and resolve constraints. The planner also helps drive adherence to operational standards and procedures, supporting a safe, high-quality, and reliable manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule material and production needs to ensure they align with production timelines and goals.
- Allocate resources and monitor/adjust work schedules based on labour, asset, and material availability.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or excesses and ensure efficient material throughput.
- Analyze data to identify issues and help solve problems related to production schedules and material flow.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives within the planning and production process.
- Communicate and collaborate with other teams, such as manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering, to meet production goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong experience in Manufacturing, Materials Planning or Supply Chain.
- Strong understanding of ERP transactions and business impact.
- Strong understanding of Material & Process control.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Previous experience in Oracle ERP is preferred.
