Role: Barrow Operative - B shift, Assortments

Salary: £31,021.68

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm, alternate weeks

Location: Carlisle, 54 Church Street, Cumbria, CA2 5TG

What will this role achieve? Barrow Operatives are accountable for ensuring that the line is fully stocked, running smoothly and have good communication with the Supervisor. They will work closely with the key operators and Supervisor regarding any issues that they come across to achieve the production plan that ensures customer supply. You will be carrying out tasks that require a hands-on approach and operating electric hand barrows in designated areas. The role will require flexibility and good communication skills. All training will be given. The role requires a proactive individual with a ‘can do’ attitude who is committed to maintaining high standards in production whilst working as part of a dynamic team. Will be required to move lines across the factory as and when required.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Ordering pawns/layaside
  • Ordering packaging requests
  • Complete stock sheets (assortments only)
  • Keep the line stocked up
  • Inform your Manager if you have out of date stock
  • Use Autostore
  • Moving loads into dispatch
  • Barcoding
  • Waste collection and waste control
  • Documenting all data on Shop Floor online
  • Supporting line operators in change overs
  • Collect and remove all packaging as required
  • Work closely with the daily plan to ensure we have enough packaging for each SKU
  • Help and support on the line if required (Packing)

The successful applicant will develop a key working relationship and support fellow work colleagues and maintain effective communication with the line/departmental management team.

  • Understand zonal Key Performance Indicators (production targets, waste levels and line performance)

What does the recruitment process consist of?

  • Assessments – Swift Comprehensive Aptitude assessment along with a Workplace English assessment. These should take around 45–60 minutes to complete.
  • Interview – 45-60 minute competency-based interview based on our company values and your experience. If you are an internal candidate - depending on your current role, you may not be required to complete the assessment.
