We are seeking a highly capable and hands‑on Engineering Technician to support rapid prototype development, system builds, and test activities across CRFS systems engineering projects. This role is central to enabling fast, repeatable build–test–iterate cycles. The Engineering Technician will work closely with Systems Engineering, Mechanical Design, Hardware, RF, and Test engineers to assemble, modify, and test prototype and pre‑production systems.
Job Description
- Prototype & System Builds: Assemble and modify prototypes from concept to pre‑production, including wiring looms and RF/power system integration.
- Electronics Assembly & Support: Execute hands‑on electronics assembly, soldering, and hardware bring‑up, including fault‑finding and component‑level debugging.
- CNC Machining & Fabrication: Fabricate prototype parts and tooling using CNC routers and manual workshop equipment directly from CAD or engineering drawings.
- Test & Verification Support: Build test rigs and execute environmental/mechanical test procedures while accurately documenting results and observations.
- Workshop Ownership & Management: Manage workshop organization, tool maintenance, and consumable stocks while ensuring a safe, compliant development environment.
- Collaboration & Support: Provide practical input on manufacturability to engineering teams and support peak build phases for internal and customer projects.
Basic Requirements
- Level 3 qualification or higher in Engineering (e.g. Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar).
- Equivalent practical training and demonstrable hands‑on experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Proven hands‑on experience in an engineering technician, prototype technician, or similar role.
- Strong practical electronics experience (assembly, soldering, basic fault‑finding).
- Experience operating CNC machinery and 3D printers in a prototype or low‑volume environment.
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and schematics.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving development environment.
