Join CAE’s Civil Aviation Training team as an Instructor Trainer at Burgess Hill. Key focus areas include:

  • Ensure consistent delivery and governance of IDT programs, aligned with global standards, regulatory obligations, and CAE training requirements.
  • Deliver training, support continuous improvement of instructor‑facing courseware in accordance with approved IDT courseware management processes.
  • Drive excellence in online training delivery by being highly proficient with tools like Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, or Word, and modern digital‑learning methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with Training Managers, HR partners, Training Standards Specialists, and global/regional Standards leadership to forecast instructor training needs and support pipeline readiness.
  • Uphold global standardization through cross‑center coordination, clear communication channels, and alignment with CAE’s Standards structure and strategies.
  • Support, encourage and report Academy performance metrics (OKRs, KPIs), identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in training efficiency and outcomes.

Critical responsibilities

  • Deliver and support Civil Global IDT by applying global instructional standards consistently across all IDT activities.
  • Actively participate as an Instructor Trainer, Mentor, or Coach, supporting instructor development through demonstration, feedback, and role‑modeling of best instructional practices.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of instructor‑facing courseware, ensuring content aligns with established IDT courseware management processes.
  • Support courseware creation, revision, and digital optimization to maintain high‑quality, modern learning experiences that meet regulatory and instructional requirements.
  • Support global instructor training execution and planning by collaborating with Operations, Training Managers, Center Leaders, and Standards Leaders.
  • Provide input to enable effective onboarding, qualification sequencing, resource utilization, and timely delivery of instructor training.
  • Apply and support performance metrics and quality standards by tracking instructor progress, training outcomes, and quality indicators within assigned programs.
  • Identify trends and improvement opportunities and provide feedback to support global standardization and instructional excellence.
  • Model instructional excellence in all training delivery, applying CAE’s competency‑based and standardized teaching philosophy.
  • Mentor instructors during training events, provide constructive coaching and feedback, and reinforce consistent instructional behaviors and assessment practices.

Qualifications and Education

  • Hold or have held either an ICAO ATPL or CPL license.
  • As required by the Training Centers they serve and NAA requirements, hold or have held either FAA instructor certificate or a Part FCL instructor certificate issued by an EASA member state or an equivalent 900(c) qualification related to the flight training courses provided by the ATO relating to their training domain.
  • Ideal candidates bring multi‑domain experience (e.g., BAT, CAT, FTO) and can support multiple business units, leveraging their expertise to complement and manage the broader cadre of Lead Standards roles.

Skills and Experience

  • Three or more years’ experience delivering or managing instructor training, ideally in an ATO, AOC, or global training organization.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory training frameworks (e.g., EASA Part FCL/ORA, FAA Parts 61/135/142) as they relate to instructor qualification and oversight.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills across cultures and time zones.
  • Highly organized and structured; able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical capability, including interpreting OKRs, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and tools used for online facilitation.
  • Extensive experience delivering instructor‑development programs (e.g., teaching Teaching & Learning, CBTA fundamentals, CRM, briefing/debriefing principles, Instructor Competencies, or equivalent).
  • Expertise in adult learning principles, facilitation, and competency‑based training & assessment (CBTA/EBT).
  • Strong online training delivery skills, comfortable teaching and managing groups in virtual learning environments.
  • Experience developing instructor‑facing courseware, including lesson plans, presentations, and assessment tools.
  • Ability to oversee courseware lifecycle management, including coordinating updates using structured processes (IDT courseware governance).
  • Experience mentoring and developing other instructors, tutors, coaches, or assessors.
  • Familiarity with global instructor onboarding pathways, including new hiring, Part 1, CBTA, CRM, IPPM/DOI, and training‑sequencing logic.
  • Ability to conduct instructor observations, evaluations, and feedback sessions using competency frameworks.
  • Experience coordinating or leading multi‑center or global training initiatives (ideal but not mandatory).
