The Building Surveying Practice is growing and we are seeking a Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor to join our London & South East team. The role operates within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, delivering a wide range of Building Surveying services to a diverse client base including the public sector, private sector, education, defence, central government and infrastructure organisations.

Your role- Technical & Professional Services
- Work across a number of regional projects in different sectors, providing a range of building surveying duties.
- Undertake condition surveys, measured surveys, defect diagnosis and technical due diligence; maintain awareness of industry developments and best practice.
- Prepare professional reports, schedules of work, specifications and technical drawings.
- Project Delivery
- Project management and contract administration across a range of sectors.
- Pre‑ and post‑contract activities under JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects appropriate to your experience and competency level.
- Lead the design and delivery of refurbishment, maintenance and small‑to‑medium capital projects.
- Contribute to sustainability and building safety assessments, including compliance with CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act.
- Client & Team Collaboration
- Help maintain strong client relationships and ensure high‑quality service delivery, with support from senior colleagues where required.
- Participate in team knowledge‑sharing, CPD and professional development activities.
- Contribute to quality assurance, best practice initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Understand the principles of quality, health and safety, and environmental management within project delivery.
- Qualifications & Training
- BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying (RICS accredited degree) or equivalent.
- Actively working towards professional membership, namely MRICS or equivalent.
- Skills & Experience
- A developing foundation of building surveying knowledge, preferably with experience gained through placements, internships or post‑graduate roles.
- Awareness of design and construction processes, building pathology, statutory compliance and project delivery, particularly in refurbishment and extension projects.
- Experience delivering pre‑ and post‑contract project management activities.
- Understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including CDM 2015 and the Building Safety Act.
- An awareness of the application of standard forms of building contracts (e.g. JCT and NEC).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD, Revit or digital surveying tools is advantageous.
- Experience in sectors such as education, local authorities, healthcare, central government or infrastructure is desirable.
