About the Role
As a Birmingham Young People’s Service Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in supporting individuals accessing Aquarius services. Working alongside experienced practitioners, you’ll help deliver meaningful support through one-to-one engagement, group activities, and community-based work. This is a hands‑on, people‑focused role where you’ll contribute to improving outcomes for young people and families affected by alcohol and drug use. You’ll also act as an ambassador for Aquarius, helping to create a welcoming, supportive, and non‑judgemental environment for everyone accessing the service.
Key Duties
- Support one-to-one sessions alongside practitioners
- Assist with group work, activities, and events
- Help individuals attend appointments and access services
- Provide practical and emotional support where appropriate
- Act as a positive ambassador for Aquarius
- Build supportive, professional relationships with service users
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries at all times
- Work consistently to provide reliable support to individuals
About You
You’re someone who is passionate about helping others and making a difference in people’s lives. You bring a caring, non‑judgemental approach and are able to build trust with a wide range of individuals. You will:

Lived experience of substance misuse (personally or through family) is welcomed but not essential.
