As a CNC Post Processor and Digital Twin / Machine Simulation Configuration Specialist at Autodesk, you will play a key role in ensuring seamless integration between our Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software and CNC machines. In this role, you will develop and improve CNC post‑processors, configure digital machines, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to enhance manufacturing capabilities. We welcome candidates with a strong technical or programming background who have an interest in manufacturing and CNC technologies—even if they do not yet have hands‑on experience, as training will be provided. This is a full‑time, hands‑on position requiring a minimum of four days per week in our Birmingham office. You will report to a Technical Consulting Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize, and maintain CNC post‑processors for Autodesk CAM solutions.
  • Collaborate with CAM software developers to ensure compatibility and performance.
  • Debug and troubleshoot post‑processor code to resolve issues and improve functionality.
  • Configure and maintain digital twin and machine simulation kits for Autodesk CAM solutions.
  • Work closely with engineers and programmers to accurately replicate machine behavior and toolpath simulations.
  • Apply knowledge of CAM software and CNC machining to provide technical guidance internally and externally.
  • Train and support Autodesk channel partners on CAM software, post‑processing, and machine simulation workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, C++, or similar.
  • Interest in working with CNC machines and manufacturing technologies, with a willingness to develop hands‑on experience.
  • Ability to learn and apply industry best practices in CNC machining and manufacturing workflows.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC machine operations, including 3‑axis and multi‑axis machining.
  • Familiarity with CAM software, CNC post‑processing, or manufacturing workflows.
  • Experience with digital twin or machine simulation software (e.g., Siemens NX, Vericut, or similar).
  • Background in software development for engineering or manufacturing applications.
  • Exposure to advanced CNC machining processes, including TurnMill and 5‑axis machining.
  • 3–6 years of experience in CNC post‑processing and CAM software configuration.
  • Understanding of G‑code and M‑code for multi‑axis and TurnMill machines.
