Role Purpose
We are looking to recruit a proactive and technically skilled System Operations Lead to ensure the business‑as‑usual (BAU) availability and support of key business‑critical systems. This position focuses on day‑to‑day technical, administrative and user support across a diverse ecosystem of SaaS and internal platforms, with Workday, Microsoft SharePoint, Azure, and Power Apps as the primary areas of responsibility. This is a newly defined role created to separate BAU support and minor enhancements from strategic and innovative development work. The postholder may also deliver small, user‑led enhancements that contribute to the effective daily running of the systems. The System Operations Lead will oversee downtime management, planned changes, and the proactive maintenance of systems to ensure they remain secure, available, and consistently delivering value.
As a Systems Operations Lead you will:
- Ensure smooth and reliable operation and day to day availability of key business systems, with a strong focus but not exclusive on Workday, SharePoint and Azure.
- Monitor system performance and respond to incidents and support requests, providing diagnostics and resolution of incidents/requests whilst identifying any interoperability or impacts across systems.
- Support small change requests from end users, verifying change requests, classifying changes and routing them appropriately where required.
- Work across a broad SaaS ecosystem, including platforms such as Monday.com, and others as required.
- Ensure IT Ops have the capability and capacity to support identified systems in Business as Usual.
- Articulate acceptance criteria to ensure documentation and knowledge transfer for new and significant changes to IT systems.
- Participate in governance processes to ensure work is aligned with approved priorities and business strategy.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of system development practices, tools, and standards.
- Stay current with platform updates (especially Workday) and recommend opportunities for innovation or improvement.
The successful candidate will:
- Have strong experience in system operation, configuration and administration, particularly within Workday, Microsoft SharePoint and Azure.
- Proven ability to support technical solutions across SaaS platforms and cloud-based ecosystems.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise requests for support, assistance and advice, while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of change management and ITIL.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Be comfortable in operating across the full suite of IT ecosystem, providing technical support and bringing in others (SMEs, 3rd Line Support) where required to ensure the continued availability for all systems across DM.
