What does the role involve? As a Senior Microservices Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable and resilient microservices‑based applications within the CIO Technology Engineering team. You will work closely with the Principal Engineer, Group Architecture, and cross‑functional scrum teams to deliver high‑quality solutions aligned with business and technical requirements. You will be responsible for implementing microservices using best practices defined by the Community of Practice, ensuring consistency, reusability, and maintainability across services. You will actively participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards. In this role, you will mentor junior engineers, support the adoption of modern engineering practices, and help identify and resolve technical issues early to reduce risk and prevent technical debt. You will also contribute to the creation and tracking of team‑level KPIs and support the Principal Engineer in driving strategic initiatives.
Skills we would love you to have:
- Extensive hands-on experience developing Java based microservices in production environments, with the technical depth expected of a senior‑level engineer.
- Strong experience working in agile teams, with a solid understanding of iterative delivery and stakeholder collaboration.
- Proven ability to influence technical decisions, contribute to process improvements, and support the company’s engineering vision.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, supporting their growth and onboarding into agile delivery teams.
