What does the role involve?
As a Microservices Developer, you will be a key contributor within the CIO Technology Engineering team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining microservices‑based applications that are scalable, secure, and maintainable. You will work closely with senior engineers, architects, and cross‑functional scrum teams to deliver high‑quality solutions that meet business and technical requirements. You will apply established engineering practices and standards, contribute to code reviews, and actively participate in agile ceremonies. You will be expected to take ownership of deliverables, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve your technical skills and understanding of the wider system landscape. In this role, you will also support junior developers, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to the Community of Practice by sharing learnings and adopting best practices. You will be encouraged to explore new technologies and approaches, helping to drive innovation and efficiency within the team.
Skills we would love you to have:
- Proven experience developing Java‑based microservices in a commercial environment.
- Experience working in agile delivery teams, with a good understanding of iterative development and collaboration.
- Ability to contribute to technical discussions and decision‑making, with a growing awareness of architectural principles.
- Experience supporting and mentoring junior developers, sharing knowledge and promoting good practices.
