We’re strengthening our team at Plum Underwriting and looking for a Trading Underwriter to join the team as we continue to grow. The role of the Trading Underwriter is to evaluate the risk and exposures of customers for new business, mid‑term adjustments and renewals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quoting, converting and retaining business to meet budget and underwriting performance targets for the range of specialist home insurance products throughout all Plum’s distribution channels.
  • Ensuring Plum provides excellent service to its brokers at all times.
  • Underwriting in accordance with the Plum Internal Underwriting Guide and the Underwriting authority awarded.
  • Maximising conversion and retention within your authority.
  • Monthly reporting to Line Manager.
  • Taking underwriting referrals from other offices where outside individuals level of authority.
  • Understanding/supporting and driving income, conversion and retention objectives.
  • Assisting in the development of new & existing products.
  • Dealing with incoming enquiries from clients, insurers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner.
  • Underwriting while taking all necessary care to protect the interest of our capacity providers.

Your experience:

  • Ideally, you’ll have experience of successfully underwriting a mixed household / Commercial Property portfolio.
  • A varied skill set that includes strong communication (both written and verbal), sales, negotiation, analytical and IT skills.
  • Previous experience within an MGA business would be highly beneficial.
