This role will provide key support to the Site Leadership Team for the Wigston factory site. The role will be based in Wigston and reports to the Manchester Regional Finance Manager within Supply Chain Finance, and will provide pivotal support in a range of areas, including the preparation of quarterly forecasts / budgets and performance reporting. The role will involve working closely with a wide range of cross‑functional team members as well as guiding the offshore finance function. Developing Cost Centre Managers’ financial awareness, finance support for cases for the site capital investment process and facilitating the management team in controlling and forecasting the cost base are all part of the responsibilities. Standard product costing ownership including financial support for the development of new products. A drive for continuous improvement will be crucial to develop the processes and practices of the site finance function.

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensuring that decisions, plans, and strategies are formulated on a sound commercial and financial basis.
  • Reviewing and reporting performance against agreed budgets and forecasts and driving the formulation of the vital action plans to meet those objectives.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and group accounting procedures, highlighting areas of concern as appropriate and taking corrective action.
  • Business partner to site cost centre managers, supporting them in overheads management and mentoring financial matters.
  • Completing the site's budget and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Standard product costing ownership including financial support for the development of new products.
  • Supporting and liaising with project leads regarding capital reporting and forecasting, capital business cases and managing monthly site projects meetings.
  • Site prime and overhead performance analysis and month end reporting.
  • Ensuring robust financial control through maintaining the site asset register, being responsible for timely capitalisation, disposal, and asset verification.
  • Periodic balance sheet reconciliation review.
  • Supervision and support of the offshore team, including development training and acting as the first point of contact.
  • Reporting into the Regional Finance Manager and site leadership team.
  • Deputise as the need arises for the Regional Finance Manager.

Essential Experience:

  • Able to demonstrate a proven communication and leadership ability, with the gravitas to build solid, successful working relationships cross‑functionally.
  • Experience of Financial Analysis / modelling / investment appraisal techniques.
  • The desire to challenge the status quo, actively engage with the whole site.
  • Track record of providing robust and informative financial analysis, including planning and forecasting.
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel, and Word/PowerPoint).
  • Recently qualified or studying towards a recognised professional qualification such as CIMA/ACA/ACCA, or strong experience in a finance environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to make financial analysis easily understood.
  • Ability to plan effectively and work under own initiative.

Desirable Experience:

  • Costing experience in the FMCG/ manufacturing arena.
  • Experience of making sophisticated financial analysis easily understood in FMCG/ manufacturing background.
