Crowcon Detection Instruments Ltd. is looking to recruit to the Service department a Service Operator to contribute to delivering company growth goals.

This is a local role reporting to the Team Leader.

What will you be doing?

As a member of the Service Team, you will work as part of a team making and servicing lifesaving equipment.

You will be part of a team focused on delivering quality service to its customers, as well as work on a range of Gas Detection devices carrying out routine service and calibration activities as per company procedures.

The team is made up as follows

  • Manufacturing Manager
  • Team Leader
  • Cell Leader
  • Service, Repairs and Warranty team
  • Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and standards in all daily duties and tasks actively reporting near misses.
  • Carry out routine service and calibration on a variety of Portable and Fixed Gas Detection devices.
  • Investigate and identify root cause of any device failures.
  • Log warranty and non-warranty fault codes.
  • Provide support to Production where required.
  • Participate in daily workgroup shift start up meetings.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Activities enabling the identification of efficiency and quality improvements.
  • Maintain the production cell area as part of our 5S programme.
  • Ensure tooling and equipment within calibration.
  • Provide a flexible approach to work actively seeking to improve job knowledge and flexibility.
  • Ensure Batch Records and supporting documentation is completed accurately and fully.
  • Give guidance to Trainee Operators to aid their development.
  • Have a flexible approach to work.
  • Continually monitor product shelf lives.
  • While the above key responsibilities are the main elements of the job role there be times when requested to carry out other tasks deemed to be within their capability.

  • Maths & English GCSE grade C or above.

  • Ability to clearly follow work instructions.

• Desirable

  • 2 years’ experience in manufacturing / assembly.
  • Awareness of lean and continuous improvement methodology.
