The Dormant Distillery Company operates one of Scotland’s leading whisky specialist retailers and wholesalers, Royal Mile Whiskies.

Founded in 1998, the company also operates a specialist tobacconist on the Royal Mile, The Cigar Box, and in 2011 opened specialist drinks retail shops in Edinburgh and Pitlochry, Drinkmonger, with the vision of providing the most comprehensive range of quality alcohol products in Scotland.

Alongside our online business through Royal Mile Whiskies and Drinkmonger, the company has also developed a wholesale business, supplying the on-trade across Scotland and beyond.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen to join the Royal Mile Whiskies team as a

Retail Sales Assistant (Keyholder) in our new York store.

This role is focused on delivering excellent customer service and supporting the daily running of the shop.

As a keyholder, you will also have responsibility for opening and closing the store when required, ensuring the appropriate security procedures are followed.

You will assist customers, help maintain high presentation standards and support the wider team during busy trading periods.

While specialist product knowledge is not required, an interest in drinks retail is important and you should be enthusiastic about developing your knowledge of our range of spirits, wine, beer and premium products.

This role is particularly suited to someone looking for flexible hours, including weekend and peak trading work.

  • Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Help customers find products and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Process sales through the till accurately.

  • Keyholder Responsibilities
  • Act as a keyholder for the store and take responsibility for opening and closing when required.
  • Follow all store opening, closing and security procedures.
  • Ensure the store is secure and appropriately prepared for trading.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the shop when carrying out keyholder duties.
  • Restock shelves and maintain displays.
  • Keep the shop clean, tidy and well presented.
  • Assist with deliveries and stock organisation.
  • Help maintain high standards across the shop floor.
