Doris Group UK are looking for a Junior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer. As a leader in Engineering, advisory and project management for energy, the mission is to make conventional energies cleaner and make renewable and new energies possible. As a Junior E&I Engineer, you’ll support the design and development of electrical and instrumentation systems across a range of projects. With a strong focus on safety, quality, and innovation, we work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and efficient power and control systems. What you'll do:
- Assisting in the design of LV, MV, and HV power systems
- Supporting the preparation of technical documentation including design reports, calculations, datasheets, and specifications
- Producing and reviewing drawings such as single line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and hook-up drawings
- Supporting power system studies and simulations (load flow, short circuit, voltage stability, harmonics, etc.)
- Assisting in instrument selection (pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, valves, etc.)
- Working with key design documents such as P&IDs, instrument indexes, I/O lists, and cable schedules
- Supporting integration of instruments with control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA)
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, and project engineers
- Ensuring work is delivered in line with project standards, procedures, and specifications
- Contributing to a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with SHEQ policies and statutory requirements
What you'll bring:
- A degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Understanding of electrical power systems and instrumentation design
- Familiarity with UK and/or EU Grid Codes
- Knowledge of power system modelling and analysis
- Aware of transmission and distribution systems (LV through to EHV)
- Basic understanding of control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) and industrial communication protocols (e.g. HART, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP)
- Familiarity with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, DigSILENT, PSSE, or Aveva Instrumentation
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- High attention to detail and strong IT literacy
- A willingness to learn, develop, and take on new challenges
