The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity to join a respected and established international engineering company currently undergoing significant growth. We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter who can confidently assemble large bespoke systems. These units can range from 3.5 to 7 tonnes, containing up to 3,000 components (excluding nuts and bolts), and can take several months to complete.

You’ll either have completed a formal Engineering Apprenticeship or be a highly experienced fitter who has learned on the job. The role is hands-on and varied, requiring both basic and precision fitting using tools such as feeler gauges and clocks for assembling gears, bearings, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and Work from Engineering Drawings
  • Assemble Precision Parts, Sub-Assemblies, and Full Systems
  • Carry out Final Testing and Commissioning of Part or Fully Completed Systems
  • Travel Domestically and Internationally (up to 20% of the Time, including up to 10% in Asia) to Perform Installations, Commissioning, and Maintenance (includes Working at Height)
  • Use Hand and Power Tools Confidently
  • Work Independently after receiving Product Specific Training
Desirable Experience & Skills:
  • Engineering Apprenticeship or Relevant Qualification (or Extensive Hands-On Experience)
  • Experience Building Sub-Assemblies and Integrating them into Full Systems
  • Proven ability to follow Technical Drawings and Specifications
  • Experience in a Manufacturing or Engineering Environment as a Mechanical Fitter
  • Some Electrical Knowledge is Advantageous, though not Essential
  • Sheet Metal Work Experience is a plus
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Strong Attention to Detail and Craftsmanship
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to Represent the Company Professionally at Customer Sites
  • Flexible and Proactive Attitude to Working Hours and Responsibilities
Working Hours:
  • Monday to Friday
  • Choice of Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Overtime Regularly Available
  • When Working Off-Site, you’ll be Paid for a Minimum 12-Hour Day

£31,200 basic (flexible if Industry experience) with overtime expected earnings up to £39,000
