This is a varied role which would ideally suit someone who enjoys being hands on as part of the team but also enjoys the responsibility of overseeing the production processes and is not afraid of a small amount of admin too. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the Factory based in ST5 (Newcastle Under Lyme area of Stoke on Trent), following set production, delivery and despatch plans for all production streams on site.
It is a physical role which also requires someone with good management skills, a keen eye for detail, and basic IT skills dealing with emails and basic spreadsheets. When not managing, you will be happy to roll up your sleeves and help with whatever needs doing as part of the team. The role will report to the Production Manager and Works Director who will support closely. Outside of core business hours when on shift, you will be responsible in the first instance for the smooth operation of the factory; therefore, good communication skills at all levels will be essential including verbal, written, and email.
Ideal backgrounds could include any production environment; however, if you have a background which includes Batch Traceability such as Food, Chemicals, Minerals etc., that would be ideal but not essential.
Your role would include:
- To ensure the safe and efficient operation of all plant and equipment.
- In the absence of the production manager, be the first point of contact for shift operators that need guidance or support in their role.
- Take responsibility for training of new operators and ensuring training documentation is signed off accordingly.
- To ensure that all process and quality documents and procedures are always followed and that any issues are raised with a manager or relevant department as required.
- To reduce product loss and waste at every opportunity through good manufacturing processes.
- To assume responsibility for any in-process procedures including but not limited to the following: in-process paperwork and process information, material/product testing in line with QC systems, stock control, setting up of production machinery to specified parameters in line with production schedule, product labelling as per customer specific specifications.
- Ensure housekeeping and site organisation is structured and tidy.
- Any observed issues or improvements are communicated correctly, i.e., maintenance, H&S issues.
- Opening up and locking up of site as required.
- Working as part of a wider production team to ensure all operators are working in a safe, compliant, and supported way.

Hours & Remuneration:
- Hours – Days 6am-2pm, Noons 2pm-10pm, Nights 10pm-6am Monday to Friday (5 days 40 hrs Per Week)
- Salary - £32K - £35K dependant on experience
- Holidays – 33 Days including bank Holidays
