This is a rare opportunity to join a world-class manufacturer of high-integrity steel castings, supplying critical components to customers across defence, energy, nuclear, offshore, and industrial markets. Due to continued growth and investment, we are seeking a Dimensional Inspector to join our Quality Department.
Working with advanced 3D scanning and metrology equipment, you will play a key role in ensuring our cast and machined components meet demanding customer specifications and industry standards.
The Role
- You will be responsible for inspecting steel castings and CNC-machined components throughout the manufacturing process, using both conventional and advanced metrology techniques.
- You will work closely with production, engineering, customers, and suppliers to maintain the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out dimensional inspections against engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of cast and machined components.
- Generate accurate inspection reports, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), and supporting quality documentation.
- Utilise 3D scanning and metrology systems to verify component compliance.
- Support production teams in achieving dimensional conformity throughout the manufacturing process.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions relating to quality issues.
- Participate in customer and third-party audits when required.
- Work in accordance with company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management Systems.
Essential Requirements
- Proficient user of PolyWorks Inspector and/or Creaform OS Inspection software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of BS8888, ISO 8062, and ASME standards.
- Experience using Creaform and/or Hexagon metrology equipment.
- Previous experience within a steel foundry environment.
- Understanding of CNC machining processes.
- Experience producing FAIR documentation.
