The predicted salary is between 45000 - 55000 £ per year.
Fully employed with 33 days holiday (including Bank Holidays) paid hourly with annual earnings expected to be in the region of £45,000 - £55,000 inclusive of some overtime.
We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and versatile CNC Maintenance Engineer with additional expertise working on overhead cranes and PLC-controlled equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machine maintenance, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical troubleshooting, plus the ability to work with various automated systems. This role requires someone capable of working at height, in confined spaces and on large equipment such as 100T cranes and large CNC machines capable of machining 60T workpieces. Working as part of a collaborative team is essential, with good communication with management regarding any planned works.
The successful candidate must also be prepared to obtain and maintain UK government security clearances as required, which the company will sponsor them for.
Key Responsibilities:- CNC Machine Maintenance: Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on CNC machines, ensuring minimal downtime. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults, making repairs as necessary. Carry out calibration, adjustments, and upgrades to CNC systems to improve performance and efficiency. Ensure that all maintenance work complies with safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and operational procedures.
- Crane and PLC Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, repairs, and servicing of cranes and other lifting equipment. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLC-controlled equipment, including automated systems and robotics. Ensure safe operation of all cranes and automated equipment, troubleshooting any faults and implementing fixes promptly.
- Working at Height and in Confined Spaces: Carry out maintenance and repairs on equipment located at height or within confined spaces, following all relevant safety protocols. Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate maintenance records for all machinery and equipment serviced. Assist with the creation of maintenance schedules and provide technical support to the production team. Report any faults or potential issues to the Maintenance Manager.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety legislation, internal policies, and safety guidelines. Actively participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and training programs as required.
- Security Clearance: Obtain and maintain UK government security clearances as required for access to restricted areas and sensitive equipment.
- CNC Machine Maintenance: Proven experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing CNC machines. Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic fault-finding abilities. Familiarity with CNC control systems, such as FANUC, Siemens, Heidenhein or similar.
- Crane and PLC Equipment Maintenance: Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, and similar equipment. Strong understanding of PLC-controlled systems and automation.
- Working at Height and in Confined Spaces: Experience working at height and in confined spaces, with knowledge of the associated risks and safety protocols (full training will be provided for this).
- Security Clearance: Willingness to undergo the process of obtaining UK government security clearance, including background checks and vetting.
- Health & Safety: Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and the ability to implement them effectively in a practical environment.
- Level 3 Apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering would be ideal.
- HNC in Electrical or Mechanical engineering, or willingness to study to get this.
- Experience with PLC ladder programming and/or function block programming.
- Experience using preventive maintenance programs and maintenance management software would be an advantage.
- Certified to 18th Edition would be an advantage but not essential.
- Experience installing and maintaining conveyors, swarf handling equipment.
- Experience with frequency inverters.
- Experience in a similar industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with production staff.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable and flexible to ensure maintenance is carried out quickly and efficiently.
- Full-time position, various shifts available with frequent overtime.

- Flexibility in working hours may be required from time to time to minimise disruption to production schedules.
