Reporting to the Technical Director of one of our Civil Infrastructure teams, the postholder is responsible for the successful delivery of civil engineering projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Develop project scopes, programmes, and budgets, ensuring effective planning and resource allocation.
- Act as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Involvement in tender stage activities such as tender reviews and development of procurement plans.
- Coordinate internal design teams and external stakeholders, including contractors and regulatory bodies.
- Monitor project progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements.
- Manage project finances, including cost control, forecasting, and invoicing.
- Prepare and present project reports to clients and senior management.
- Support business development activities, including bid preparation and client engagement.
- Mentor and support junior team members where appropriate.
- Ensure the firm’s quality assurance procedures are followed throughout project delivery.
Person Specification
Qualification
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Project management qualification such as APM PMQ/PPQ.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years project management experience in civil engineering consultancy firm.
- Knowledge of and experience in NEC and Public Works contracts.
- Experience in other forms of contracts desirable.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance systems and quality management.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
