A rapidly growing international technology business is seeking a senior policy and external affairs professional to lead government, regulatory and stakeholder engagement activity across the UK and Europe. Operating in a highly regulated and fast-evolving environment, the organisation works at the intersection of technology, commercial innovation and public policy. The Role

The organisation is seeking a Head of UK & European Policy to lead regulatory, policy and government affairs engagement across key markets. This is not purely a policy role. The successful candidate will help shape market access, commercial growth and stakeholder strategy across the UK and Europe. The role will involve close collaboration with commercial, legal, communications and technical teams to support wider organisational objectives. This is a highly external-facing role requiring strong political judgement, excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate confidently in complex international regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead UK and European public policy and government affairs engagement activity.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with government departments, regulators, policymakers and external stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Develop engagement strategies that support commercial priorities and long-term growth.
  • Represent the organisation in meetings with policymakers, regulators, industry bodies and strategic partners.
  • Support the development of regulatory and policy frameworks that enable innovation and commercial expansion.
  • Build coalitions and strategic relationships with external organisations, industry groups and relevant stakeholders.
  • Draft consultation responses, policy papers, briefings and senior-level communications materials.
  • Work closely with internal legal, communications, commercial and technical teams to support organisational priorities.
  • Monitor political and regulatory developments across the UK and Europe, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Support wider external affairs, reputation and stakeholder engagement activity where required.

Skills & Experience

  • Significant senior-level experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, government affairs or external affairs.
  • Strong understanding of UK and European political and regulatory environments.
  • Experience influencing policy, regulation or government decision-making processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and experience dealing with senior external audiences.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively across international markets and multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including drafting policy and regulatory materials.
  • Experience working alongside legal, technical or commercial teams within complex organisations.
  • Ability to navigate fast-moving and evolving business environments.

Desirable

  • Experience within regulated, technology, infrastructure or innovation-led sectors.
  • Existing relationships with policymakers, regulators or public-sector stakeholders across Europe.
  • Additional European language skills.
  • Experience building or scaling policy or external affairs functions within a growing organisation.
