A national organisation focused on delivering social impact is seeking an experienced professional to support senior leadership during a significant period of organisational development and strategic delivery. The organisation works closely with policymakers, employers, funders, researchers and practitioners to improve outcomes on a range of social and economic issues. Through research, evidence generation, partnerships and advocacy, it seeks to influence decision-making and drive long-term change.

This role sits at the heart of the organisation, supporting senior leaders to operate effectively, drive strategic priorities and strengthen organisational performance.

This is a newly created role combining strategic project delivery, executive support and external engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Executive and wider senior leadership team, helping to coordinate priorities, improve organisational effectiveness and ensure strategic initiatives are delivered successfully. This is not a traditional Executive Assistant role.

The position requires someone who is politically aware, highly organised and comfortable operating across strategy, operations, governance and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will need to be equally comfortable managing senior relationships, coordinating complex projects and preparing high-quality briefing materials. The balance of responsibilities will evolve over time in line with organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of organisation-wide strategic initiatives and improvement programmes.
  • Assist with business planning, organisational development and performance improvement activity.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects and ensure delivery against agreed objectives.
  • Support the production of major organisational publications and reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve organisational processes, collaboration and internal communications.
  • Monitor progress against strategic priorities and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
Executive Operations
  • Provide high-level operational support to the Chief Executive and senior leadership team.
  • Establish effective management processes, planning cycles and decision-making mechanisms.
  • Coordinate leadership meetings, agendas, actions and follow-up activity.
  • Manage competing priorities and help ensure leadership time is focused on the most important issues.
  • Facilitate effective communication and information flow across senior teams.
  • Support leadership events, away days and organisational communications initiatives.
Stakeholder & External Engagement Support
  • Coordinate preparation for high-profile external meetings, speaking engagements and stakeholder events.
  • Produce and commission briefing materials, research and background information for senior leaders.
  • Support engagement with government, external partners, funders, sector leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure actions arising from senior stakeholder engagement are captured and followed through.
  • Work with colleagues across policy, communications, programmes and operations to provide coordinated support.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
  • Experience supporting senior leaders in roles spanning strategy, operations, project management, public affairs, policy, governance or similar functions.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Experience producing high-quality briefings, papers and decision documents for senior audiences.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and present concise recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving capability and sound judgement.
  • High levels of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to operate independently while working collaboratively across teams.
