Our client is a leading UK membership organisation based in London and is looking for a strategic and experienced Associate Director of Policy & Public Affairs to lead on long-term savings and investment policy. This high-profile role is central to influencing policy outcomes that affect millions of consumers and a critical sector of the UK economy.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership role in a collaborative policy and advocacy team. You’ll take ownership of a complex portfolio covering investment regulation, pensions and financial advice, working closely with policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to drive positive change.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and deliver strategy on key long-term savings issues, working with colleagues across teams to align policy and public affairs efforts.
- Engage with central government departments, regulators, and wider stakeholders to build consensus and shape the external policy environment.
- Guide the organisation’s responses to government consultations and legislative changes.
- Develop credible, evidence-based policy positions with the support of expert committees and working groups.
- Represent the organisation in high-level meetings, stakeholder forums, and conferences.
- Lead and motivate a small team, creating a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Support cross-functional initiatives to enhance member engagement and influence.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced in financial or economic policy, particularly relating to investments, pensions and financial advice.
- A strategic thinker who can translate policy insight into practical outcomes.
- Skilled in political engagement and external affairs, with a track record of influencing legislation or regulatory change.
- Highly analytical, able to evaluate detailed data and policy documents to form robust positions.
