We’ve experienced significant growth over the past 10 years which we’ve achieved through consistently delivering high quality work on behalf of our clients, including National Grid and South Staffordshire Water. We pride ourselves on the strength of our relationship with our clients and subcontractors and despite operating in a very fast-paced and often challenging industry, we will soon register a turnover of £100m, a significant milestone for the organisation.
The PHP Developer position is essential for the Group’s ongoing growth, supporting the continuous development of our custom in-house software system. It is a web and app-based platform allowing our employees and contractors to access services via tablets or mobile phones, fulfilling all our operational needs. These include payroll and labour costings, CRM functions, job allocation, operational costings, diary planning/scheduling, form creation and databasing, SHEQ requirements, vehicle allocation and HR functions with further plans to expand into the wider business.
The role is office-based and requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including Directors and Senior Management.
- Design, code, test and debug Doocey Group’s software applications, ensuring strong optimisation and functionality.
- Maintain and enhance the existing software systems by identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
- Integrate software components and third-party software and applications.
- Ensure seamless integration between third party software systems and software used within the company.
- Provide technical support to staff, troubleshoot issues and implement bug fixes.
- Assist in the training of staff to use software applications effectively.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all software applications, including technical specifications and user manuals.
- Ensure that all software development activities comply with industrial standards and regulations.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and applications.
- Collaborate with front-end developers and business stakeholders to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
- Follow industry best practices for code management and deployment.
Qualifications & Training:
- Proven experience as a PHP Developer.
- Excellent knowledge of PHP and the Taliwind/Alpine.js/Laravel/Livewire (TALL) stack and (LAMP) stack.
- Proficiency in PHP and experience with PHP frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Symfony, Codelgniter).
- Ability to administrate cloud-hosted Linux servers and MySQL databases - preferably in AWS.
- Ability to self-manage work using JIRA or equivalent project management tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (desirable).
- Zend Certified PHP Engineer.
- PHP Development Certification.
- MYSQL Certification.
