This role is based at our head office in Tipton, West Midlands but will be working on UK-wide projects with travel required.

Doocey Group is a well-established utility and civil-engineering contractor with over 40 years of industry experience. Over the past five years, the business has delivered significant growth, doubling its turnover through consistent delivery of high-quality work for major clients, including National Grid and South Staffordshire Water. The Group’s success is underpinned by strong delivery capability, an experienced leadership team and a highly engaged workforce, enabling continued organic growth and long-term client partnerships.

We are now looking to expand our Electrical Project Management capability and are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong electrical background, gained within a contracting environment and/or through working on DNO-led projects.

The Project Manager will have responsibility for the delivery of LV and HV electrical projects, overseeing all phases of execution in accordance with client requirements for ICP, Customer and DNO works. This includes project costing, planning, implementation and close-out across the client contract, while ensuring full compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project creation, including defining technical scope and costings, working collaboratively with other departments where required.
  • Develop and manage project plans to ensure delivery to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Arrange and manage subcontract works in line with defined specifications, budgets and programme requirements.
  • Act as the primary interface with the client / Adopting Utility, ensuring works are delivered and handed over to the required specification.
  • Carry out and manage site audits to ensure compliance with client’s requirements, company policies, safety standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee streetworks compliance, ensuring all sites are cleared to the required standard and mitigating the risk of Section 74 and Fixed Penalty Notices.
  • Review defects and non-conformance reports, identifying potential rejections at an early stage and escalating appropriately to ensure timely resolution.
  • Support effective resource planning to meet client delivery requirements, including attendance at planning meetings.

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience leading and delivering high-voltage (HV) engineering projects across the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including DNOs, ICPs and local authorities.

Desirable

  • Direct experience working within a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) environment or delivering projects on behalf of, or in partnership with, a DNO.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • ONC / C&G Level 3.

Desirable

  • HNC in Electrical Engineering.
  • Incorporated membership / working towards incorporated membership.
