Job Title Senior Estimator Salary Our salaries are competitive and reviewed regularly to ensure they remain fair and in line with the wider industry. Location Frequent attendance at our site in Tipton, West Midlands will be required. Our Company Doocey Group is a family-run utility and civil engineering contractor with over 40 years’ experience built on strong, Black Country values. We’ve experienced significant growth over the past 10 years which we’ve achieved through consistently delivering high quality work on behalf of our clients, including National Grid and South Staffordshire Water. The Role As an Estimator, you will be responsible for analysing tender documents, assessing project requirements, and producing detailed cost estimates for a range of utility works including electrical installations (LV/HV), cabling, substation works, and associated civil engineering components. You will work closely with our pre-construction, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure each proposal is both technically viable and commercially competitive. Your insights will directly inform bid strategy and contribute to the long-term success of the business. Responsibilities * Evaluate project scope, risk and pricing strategy for all work types, ensuring all information is correct, accurate, * Produce accurate and comprehensive estimates and submission documents for all works, within a timely and efficient manner. * Produce estimates from first principles using software and company master libraries, ensuring estimates are accurate and comprehensive * Manage multiple estimates and tenders simultaneously, ensuring all work is completed as requested and within specified timeframes. * Manage the bid process, driving the tendering process, ringing the team and required resource together to achieve the required outputs * Working with existing designs, estimate and prepare complete proposals to Doocey and customer expectations * Produce draft design sketches using PDF Xchange Editor for design and build projects where no design is available. * Create accurate and comprehensive quantity take-offs * Prepare sign off and commercial documents for peer review and approval with the Head of Estimating and Directors. * Prepare comprehensive governance slide pack to present tender proposals, proposed methodologies and submission documents to the directors for review and final approval * Liaise and support the business development function in all work-winning activities, to ensure all estimating is completed thoroughly and accurately, within required time frames. The Person * Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in reviewing scope, risk and value engineering opportunities * Effective communicator with the ability to liaise with engineers, project managers, suppliers and clients during pre-construction phases Technical Skills & Experience * Estimating for utility projects with a strong emphasis on electrical installations (LV/HV) * Knowledge of utility infrastructure including power distribution, substation works, cabling and associated civils * Experience working with DNOs, IDNOs and ICPs on commercial, industrial or infrastructure projects * Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Qualifications & Training * Qualified by experience working in a similar role within the utilities infrastructure sector Additional Information Doocey Group value a diverse workforce and welcome applications form all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics.
