We are currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer on behalf of our client, a specialist engineering consultancy delivering innovative structural engineering solutions across the offshore energy sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their London-based office, in a permanent staff role.

We are looking for someone with around 5-10 years post graduate structural engineering experience within the offshore oil & gas or renewable energy sectors. This is an excellent career development opportunity to work on a wide range of challenging offshore projects, including FPSOs, offshore wind developments and renewable energy structures, alongside a highly experienced multidisciplinary team.

The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis and design of offshore structures, undertaking detailed engineering calculations and finite element analysis to support projects from concept through to delivery.

  • Producing finite element models using ANSYS and STAAD Pro.
  • Performing lifting analyses and assessing structural integrity under operational and environmental loading.
  • Designing and assessing offshore wind and renewable energy structures.
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant industry standards, including DNV, API, ABS and Eurocodes.
  • Preparing engineering calculations, technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Working closely with naval architects, mechanical engineers and drafting teams throughout project delivery.
  • Attending client meetings and providing technical engineering support where required.

Skills/experience required:

  • Around 5-10 years' structural engineering experience within the offshore oil & gas or renewable energy sectors (essential).
  • A degree in Structural, Civil or Marine Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • Experience using structural analysis software such as ANSYS and/or STAAD Pro.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA/FEM).
  • An understanding of offshore structural design principles, including environmental and hydrodynamic loading.
  • Familiarity with offshore design codes such as DNV, API, ABS or Eurocodes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a collaborative engineering team.
  • Experience with Python or MATLAB would be advantageous but is not essential.

Job Details:

  • Competitive salary & comprehensive staff benefits package.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • A collaborative and supportive working environment within a growing specialist consultancy.

If you're looking to develop your career within offshore structural engineering and work on technically challenging projects across both traditional and renewable energy sectors, we'd love to hear from you.
