At Donnington & Co, we believe in doing things properly. Set within the Berkshire countryside, our estate is home to a 111-bedroom hotel and spa, an 18-hole golf course, and our signature restaurant, PRESS. Just across the greens sits The Post Barn, our dedicated venue for events and celebrations. For us, hospitality isn't a script; it's remembering a name, knowing how a guest takes their coffee, and making sure every conversation feels natural. We don't go in for empty gestures; we go in for care, purpose, and doing the job right. We're looking for people who take that same pride in their work. In return, we provide the kind of environment where you can actually master your craft. From structured training to genuine career development, we ensure your growth is as well-thought-out as our service. If you believe that hospitality is about the "small things done well," you'll fit right in.
The Role: Assistant Restaurant Manager
We are looking for a committed and professional Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our leadership team on a permanent basis. This is a role for a floor-focused leader—someone who thrives in the heat of a busy service but can also pivot to support our private banqueting. You will be the right hand to the F&B Management Team, ensuring that every guest experience at PRESS is polished. Your day-to-day will involve:
- Leading from the front to ensure PRESS runs smoothly through attentive, high-standard service.
- Overseeing daily restaurant operations, including opening/closing procedures and staff management.
- Assisting with the coordination and execution of banqueting and private events when required.
- Training and supporting your team to maintain our high standards across F&B departments.
The Successful Candidate
We aren't looking for a "massive" CV, but we do need someone with the right foundations. You should possess:
- Proven Experience: A solid background as a Supervisor or Team Leader in a premium restaurant or hotel environment.
- Banqueting Knowledge: Some experience or a strong interest in events and banqueting service (full training will be provided to refine this).
- Professionalism: A serious commitment to the craft of hospitality and a proactive "can-do" attitude.
- Product Passion: A genuine interest in fine food and wine, with the ability to share that knowledge with both guests and the team.
- Communication Skills: The confidence to lead a team and communicate clearly with guests.
Why join Donnington & Co as an Assistant Restaurant Manager? We provide an environment where you can actually grow. Beyond the shift, we offer a range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing and your career:
- Fair Pay & Rewards: Competitive hourly rates plus a significant service charge.
- Flexibility: Early Pay (on-demand wage access) when you need it.
- Perks: High street discounts via Benefit Hub and generous stays at our two hotels, as well as membership discounts, Spa and Golf.
- Wellbeing: Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and Cycle to Work scheme.
- Long Service Awards: We also know how to host our own, from summer BBQs to department social events, we make sure our working experience is as rewarding as our guest experience.
If you believe in care, purpose, and doing the job right and you think our Assistant Restaurant Manager role is for you, we'd love to hear from you.
