The Marketing Coordinator will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the Donmar Marketing team, from contributing to production marketing campaigns, to leading on the production of programmes and providing essential administration for the smooth running of the department. The Marketing Coordinator is also responsible for managing the Donmar’s social media accounts and monitoring online activity. The Donmar works with a number of external providers, including AKA and Kate Morley PR, as well as photographers, freelancers and web developers, and the Marketing Coordinator will ensure efficient communication and sharing of information across these organisations. This is an ideal role for someone looking to build upon their arts marketing experience and contribute to a dynamic and busy marketing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Director of Audiences and Head of Marketing in the operation of the Donmar’s marketing function for all productions in Covent Garden and beyond, including transfers and broadcasts.
- CAMPAIGNS
- Working with the Head of Marketing on production campaign planning and delivery including liaising with suppliers.
- Supporting the Head of Marketing to create and distribute regular audiences email communications including pre and post-visit emails and supporting other departments including Development and Participation in email distribution.
- Leading on campaigns related to Donmar Participation projects.
- Creating and distributing regular email communications, to support with recruiting participants and planning and delivering cross-platform campaigns to promote Participation projects to audiences and stakeholders.
- Supporting the Head of Marketing with planning and delivering photoshoots, filming and other digital marketing activities.
- Supporting the Head of Marketing with proofreading and copywriting for marketing campaigns.
- Ensuring consistency and accuracy across all communications materials.
- Ensuring all marketing materials follow the Donmar brand guidelines.
- Supporting the Marketing and Participation teams in the delivery of audience development campaigns and initiatives.
- Attending and supporting the wider team on Press nights.
- Working with the Head of Marketing to carry out audience research and support with analysis.
- Managing the Donmar’s social media accounts, delivering social media campaigns around productions and other initiatives following best practice around audience engagement online and ensuring all communications are within the Donmar’s brand guidelines.
- Day-to-day maintenance of the Donmar website, updating information, copy and images.
- Support the Head of Marketing in the commissioning, production and publishing of digital content.
- Assist with basic video editing, captioning, and formatting for digital platforms.
- Adding Donmar performances to listings websites, ensuring information is kept up to date.
- Commissioning programme articles and compiling content across the organisation for programmes.
- Managing the production process for Donmar programmes - proofreading and liaising with designers and stakeholders for approvals.
- Ensuring consistency and accuracy, and that programmes adhere to the Donmar’s brand guidelines.
- Supporting the Head of Marketing in compiling biographies for actors and creative team members and signing off with their agents.
- Responding to customer feedback on email and on social media.
- Working with the theatre’s Front of House team to ensure digital screens and other marketing materials are kept up to date, and to be the point of contact for marketing support of retail operations at the theatre.
- Keeping digital archive records updated, including records of photography permissions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- At least two years professional experience working in a marketing role in a producing theatre, other cultural organisation or marketing agency.
- Experience of working with a range of social media platforms.
- Experience of using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (such as Adobe Express).
- Demonstrable understanding of marketing campaign planning processes and budget management.
- Creative and energised, with a passion for reaching new audiences.
- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing clear and effective copy.
- Enthusiastic and pro-active.
- A team player.
- Ability to prioritise and manage busy workloads.
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the work of the Donmar.
Desirable
- Experience of using a Box Office and CRM system (we use Spektrix).
- Experience of using Dot Digital or other email systems.
- Experience of using website content management systems (we use Craft) and Google Analytics.
- Experience of using video editing software e.g. Final Cut Pro.
- An understanding of issues around Data Protection.
