The predicted salary is between 37820 - 37820 £ per year.

To support the day-to-day delivery and management of all lighting and electrical requirements for Donmar productions and related projects to the highest possible standards. To play a proactive part in the running and operation of the Production Department, the Deputy Head of Lighting will also, in conjunction with colleagues within the department, support effective planning and management of departmental and building maintenance across all Donmar premises. To promote good working practices and uphold the highest professional standards at all times as well as representing the Donmar Warehouse externally within the wider Theatre community.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with the Head of Lighting (Sound and Video Supervisor) and creative teams to deliver all lighting and electrical requirements for Donmar productions and related projects to the highest possible standards.
  • To support the Head of Lighting in running the Lighting Department during fit ups, get outs, focus sessions, technical rehearsals and live performances, taking the lead as required.
  • To regularly program lighting desks (ETC APEX/EOS) across all spaces.
  • Attending production meetings, site visits, rehearsals, and performances as required.
  • Support the Head of Lighting in the design, build and installation of practicals and electrical effects.
  • Support the Head of Lighting and the Deputy Head of Sound & Video in the planning, delivery and maintenance of audio and video requirements on productions, including comms, cue lights and hearing loop equipment.
  • To provide show cover as Duty Tech or Lighting/Sound/Video operator for allocated productions as required.
  • To meticulously prepare productions for storage, transfers and tours, including creating thorough and detailed handover paperwork.
  • To deputise for the Head of Lighting in periods of absence or as required.
  • To assist the Head of Lighting in the management of departmental and production expenditure, providing costings and keeping detailed records of spending.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Lighting, Director of Technical and Production, and freelance Production Managers to participate in the recruitment, management and scheduling of casual and freelance technicians.
  • To support the Head of Lighting in ensuring appropriate training and induction is given to all lighting staff.
  • With the Head of Lighting, provide technical and operational support, from a lighting and electrical perspective, for the work of other departments.
