Due to continued growth, McElmeel Mobility Services is looking for a Research and Development (R&D) Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will support our fast-paced, dynamic engineering team and be a key contributor to the engineering team; supporting new product development and driving continuous improvement to existing designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the wider team in relation to new product development including management, marketing and production.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to design and document new conversions, develop new processes, update production build manuals, and carry out fault finding exercises.
  • Liaise with the R&D team in the creation/modification of parts, technical drawings, and Bill of Materials.
  • Implementation of new technologies, manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Sourcing and liaising with suppliers of purchased components.
  • Follow engineering change control procedure where applicable.
  • Record and analyse Time and Motion studies to drive improvements in production times.
  • Create and update all relevant documents for COCs/Certification/Testing.
  • Schedule and visit test houses to perform component/vehicle crash test campaigns.
  • Create and manage multiple design projects within set timeframe.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering.
  • At least three years experience in a manufacturing industry related role.
  • Previous experience implementing change control within a production environment.
  • Experience in solid/surface modelling using Solidworks or similar.
  • Working knowledge of steelwork is an advantage.
  • Full Driving Licence.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (including Word and Excel), Office 365.
