Join us to make a difference in children’s residential homes. The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have an opportunity to be part of this in the role of Waking Nights Officer.

We are looking to recruit to our Children’s Residential Homes. The candidate will work under the supervision and advice of the Registered Manager, be a team member in providing a warm, caring, enabling environment designed to meet the emotional, social and physical needs of children and young people living with disabilities and complex care needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general housekeeping including washing and ironing children’s clothes, cleaning the home, completing paperwork for children’s files and other clerical tasks.
  • Use good communication skills and basic IT skills, work independently with support of a sleeping‑in member of staff, and complete tasks set out on your shift plan.
  • Ensure discreet oversight of the young people at regular intervals during the night or as directed by the Manager or senior officers.
  • Ensure the home is safe and secure and liaise with other agencies such as the Police and social care if a young person is missing from care.
  • Provide cover for other night care officers when on annual leave, training or sick leave; may be offered additional shifts within the day for training and integrated working across the home.
  • Undertake any training required for the role and complete QCF Level 3 within two years of enrolment, and attend training to implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
