As a Sports Lecturer, you will play a key role in delivering engaging teaching, learning and assessment across a range of further education sport programmes. You will work closely with students to support their individual progress, helping them to achieve their full potential in both academic and practical settings. The role involves teaching in a variety of environments, including gyms, studios and sports facilities, as well as contributing to curriculum development, student recruitment and wider college initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across sport programmes
- Plan, prepare and assess student work, providing constructive and timely feedback
- Supervise and support students in practical settings such as gyms, sports fields and studios
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support achievement and retention
- Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement and programme planning
- Support recruitment activities including open days, interviews and engagement with the community
- Maintain accurate student records, including assessment and progress tracking
- Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding and a student-centred learning culture
- Participate in team meetings, standardisation and professional development activities
- Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required
- A relevant degree or professional qualification in a sport-related discipline
- A Level 5 Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
- Significant industry experience within the sport or fitness sector
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage learners
