The vacancy Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists? Do you have a strong background in Biology and Chemistry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Lecturer in Access to HE (Science). This is a part-time vacancy, working 15 hours per week over Wednesday & Thursday (pro rata salary £12,815.49 – £16,707.04). The ideal candidate will be experienced within nursing or midwifery, and/or biomedical science. Role Summary: As a Lecturer in Access to HE (Science), you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality education to our students. You will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and ensuring the academic success of our learners. Scope and Purpose: Deliver engaging and innovative lessons in Biology and Chemistry. Contribute to curriculum development and the creation of learning materials. Support students in achieving their academic goals and preparing for higher education.Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Teach and manage one or more Access to HE programmes. Handle administrative tasks such as admissions, timetabling, and quality assurance. Develop and assess student assignments, ensuring learning objectives are met. Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to students. Collaborate with external stakeholders to enhance student work experience opportunities. Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality assurance processes. Engage in promotional activities such as Open Days and Information Events.Essential Criteria: A relevant Science degree. Minimum Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy. Commitment to achieving a teaching qualification if not already held. Relevant subject expertise and industry experience. Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required. A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and diversity.Desirable Criteria: Experience in a Further or Higher Education environment. Experience in delivering CPD training. Professional registration and membership of a professional body.
