We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Lecturer in Carpentry & Joinery to join our Construction team. This is an exciting opportunity to share your trade expertise with learners and help develop the next generation of skilled professionals. You will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of further education programmes, supporting learners to achieve their qualifications and progress into employment or further study. Industry experience is welcomed, and support will be provided for candidates who wish to gain a teaching qualification.
Essential Criteria
- A recognised qualification in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent industry experience)
- Relevant teaching, training or mentoring experience, or a strong desire to move into education
- Sound vocational knowledge of carpentry and joinery practices
- Maths and English at GCSE grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusive learning
- Right to work in the UK. We do not sponsor visas.
- Willingness to undergo safer recruitment checks including enhanced DBS
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons across carpentry and joinery programmes
- Prepare learning materials, schemes of work and assessments in line with awarding body requirements
- Assess learner work and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Support learners’ progress, attendance and achievement through effective tutorial support
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement activities
- Maintain a safe, well‑managed workshop and learning environment
- Participate in quality assurance processes, team meetings and professional development
